Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Technical Bid Writer to join our Custom Projects Team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for crafting compelling, high-quality bid responses for bespoke projects. You will lead and coordinate the bid response process, maintain a knowledge base of standard answers and templates, and constantly seek ways to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our bid submissions.
Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions that meet client needs. At Sonardyne, you will be part of a team that values precision, efficiency, and collaboration. Your contributions will be pivotal in securing new business and enhancing our bid response process.
Key Responsibilities:
Bid Writing and Coordination:
- Compile, edit, and proofread commercial proposals containing technical content and designs, ensuring they are professionally presented and concise.
- Review and refine documents prepared by others, coordinating their integration into comprehensive bid packages.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to clearly communicate bid scope and timelines to customers, ensuring alignment with expectations and project requirements.
- Lead and manage the bid preparation process, ensuring contributors provide high-quality, timely information.
Knowledge Development and Management:
- Develop a deep understanding of our business, products, and services by reviewing past bids and design documents, and engaging with pre-sales, technical, and commercial teams.
- Create and manage a digital document repository and reference library.
- Review and improve customer reference materials, establishing consistent standards across commercial functions.
- Develop standard templates for less complex bids.
Leadership and Guidance:
- Assertively drive results, particularly when working under tight deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in technical writing, ideally within an engineering environment.
- Strong technical awareness, including knowledge of internet/network-based solutions.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with a strong command of English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and respond to tender questions clearly and concisely under tight deadlines.
- Team-oriented, with a proactive approach to managing workload and responsibilities.
- Degree qualified, with a solid background in engineering.
