Quality Inspector (Mechanical) – 12-Month FTC
Location: Blackbushe
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Covering Long-Term Sick Leave)
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector (Mechanical) to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover long-term sick leave. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that mechanical parts conform to strict quality standards and specifications, are fit for purpose, and comply with all applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies from sub-contractors and in-house machine shops.
- Utilize traditional mechanical inspection equipment and 3-axis ABERLINK AXIOM CMM (manual and numerically controlled), including the ability to write programs.
- Coordinate the verification process of in-house machined components using a variety of gauges and tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Identify and report inaccuracies in component quality, documenting issues through the in-house Observation Report System.
- Conduct Chemical Etching and PMI testing, as required.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve quality issues and conduct supplier visits/audits as necessary.
- Ensure all required paperwork and certification accompany inspected materials/components.
- Inspect coils, cables, battery packs, and other assemblies to check for damage, crimp joint integrity, and correct labeling, with occasional battery and PCB testing under supervision.
- Collaborate with design and development engineers to inspect prototype parts and assemblies.
- Prioritize work from the internal Machine Shop and external subcontractors/suppliers, including short-notice requests from production control.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring compliance with calibration schedules.
- Keep the ERP (Syspro) system updated with inspection results and prepare reject notes as necessary.
- Conduct all work in strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety-first.
- Ability to handle parts weighing up to 25kg safely, with lifting equipment available for heavier items.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in mechanical inspection techniques, particularly for pressure vessel construction parts.
- Proficiency in using 3-axis ABERLINK AXIOM CMM (manual and NC equipment).
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work accurately to quality standards and procedures outlined in the Company Quality Management System.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of electrostatic dissipative devices (ESD) requirements (useful for part-assembled sub-assemblies but not essential for mechanical parts).

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical, electronic, and tank test procedures throughout the production process, from component level to final assembly.
- Diagnose and resolve faults down to component level through adjustments or repairs.
- Perform basic assembly activities to support the testing process.
- Identify and escalate non-conformances, driving resolution through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with quality system requirements.
- Work collaboratively with departments such as Production Engineering, Quality, and Stores to resolve test-related issues.
- Utilize company IT systems (ERP, intranet) for stock searches, parts inquiries, and documentation.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications: HNC in Electronics or equivalent in an electronic discipline.
Experience: Proven track record of diagnostic fault-finding down to component level.
Skills:
- Proficiency with testing tools such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, power supplies, and timers.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, circuit diagrams, and assembly drawings.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

About the Role:
We are looking for a Production Planner – Buyer to coordinate and report on production fulfilment, ensuring alignment with production schedules. This role involves managing material shortages for sales, projects, and engineering, ensuring on-time delivery of work in progress (WIP), and carrying out buying activities as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor production plans and address any potential issues to prevent delays.
- Investigate production problems, material shortages, and delays, providing solutions.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to track and expedite material shortages.
- Oversee WIP, ensuring progress aligns with sales and engineering requirements.
- Reduce aged WIP and ensure timely completion of jobs in the system (Syspro).
- Coordinate Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) and non-conformities.
- Maintain accurate production data, standard times, and costings.
- Participate in stock take and inventory management activities.
- Represent the Production Planning function in key meetings.
- Support process documentation and KPI generation for the materials function.
- Provide cover for other Materials Control team members when needed.
- Manage procurement activities, including raising purchase orders and supplier communication.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in Production Planning/Materials Control within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of MRP systems in a planning function.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
