This role offers hands-on experience in testing cutting-edge software and hardware applications while working closely with developers, project managers, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Testing: Perform functional, usability, performance, and stability testing of Sonardyne products.
- Test Planning: Develop test plans based on specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Exploratory Testing: Identify potential issues through exploratory and release candidate testing.
- Issue Management: Investigate, document, track, and help resolve system issues.
- Product Quality: Contribute to enhancing product reliability, usability, and performance.
- Collaboration: Work alongside hardware, software, and firmware teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Feedback & Reporting: Provide usability feedback via test reports and team meetings.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process enhancements within the testing and engineering teams.
- Trials & Demonstrations: Support test trials at Sonardyne’s facility in Plymouth.
- Cost & Time Estimation: Assist in estimating testing tasks for project planning.
- Customer Support: Provide technical assistance, including system installations, training, and demonstrations both onshore and offshore.
- Specialist Support: Participate in out-of-hours technical support on a rota basis.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and skill enhancement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Windows Office Suite specifically programming in Excel
- Experience of manipulating and interpreting large data files
- Ideally experience with lifecycle management software eg Jira
- Ideally aware of different testing methods e.g. System Testing, Functional Testing, Exploratory Testing, Automated Testing, compatibility Testing, Regression Testing, Reliability Testing, Usability Testing.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Ocean Science/Exploration/Engineering/Technical/Mathematics/Science disciplines.
- Valid UK Full driving license
