About the Role

Sonardyne is looking for a skilled and adaptable Offshore Field Engineer to provide world-class technical support across our full product range. This role involves global travel—often offshore—to install, commission, service, and repair equipment in diverse environments.

You’ll be on the front line, representing Sonardyne with customers worldwide while ensuring safety, precision, and outstanding service. When not offshore, you’ll support internal teams through technical insights, product feedback, and training—helping drive product development and customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on, dynamic position ideal for someone who thrives in a high-impact technical support role and enjoys travel and working in varied environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, commission, service, and repair Sonardyne products on vessels, rigs, dockyards, and other customer sites worldwide

  • Ensure safety standards are met at all times, complying with Sonardyne and customer health and safety procedures

  • Build strong customer relationships through clear communication, product demonstrations, and technical troubleshooting

  • Provide accurate documentation including visit reports, CRM updates, and support case entries

  • Identify potential sales opportunities and provide feedback to internal teams based on field experience

  • Offer remote technical support when not offshore (calls, emails, internal training, and consultation)

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent)

  • Offshore experience, including challenging environments and diverse cultural settings

  • Valid offshore medical clearance and ability to work in confined, sea-based conditions

  • Strong understanding of safe working practices and health & safety systems

  • Experience with installation, service, and repair of technical systems and products

  • Fault diagnosis skills (hardware/software)

  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., RS232/RS485)

  • Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)

  • IT literacy and ability to use CRM systems and create technical reports

Desirable:

  • Offshore Survival certification

  • Basic understanding of acoustics and mechanical/hydraulic systems

  • Experience writing “how-to” guides or internal technical documentation

Additional Details

  • Travel: Required (approx. 120 days/year offshore, often at short notice)

  • Offshore Training: Required

  • Medical Clearance: Required

  • Staff/Budget Responsibility: None
